Have you looked around this site, or do you just read the latest blog post? My blog gets the most hits of any page on the site, so I’m not surprised if you’re a blog-reader but not an explorer.
Allow me to take a few moments to show you around.
There on the left, that’s my logo. I’m still pondering how to minimize it further.
Just below it is a link to the latest post.
Next comes the signup form for my newsletter. It’s going well. First Friday of every month I write something that only shows up there, and all the other Fridays Sue compiles a list of the week’s blog posts. You’ll be surprised none to discover that Friday is the highest traffic day here at the Someday Box.
The newsletter signup is where it is because that’s what I most want a new visitor to do. If they do only one thing while they’re here, that’s what I’d like most: permission to continue the engagement. (Should this be bigger, more obvious in some way?)
Next in line as we move down the left column is the search box. WordPress provides good search tools Was a time you had to roll your own because theirs was pathetic. No longer. Search for something. You’ll find it. (Or else it’s not here, and I should write it, yes?)
Then the column splits. One half is the most popular posts (with #1, as usual, far more than double the hits of #2) followed by a signup box to be notified of new blog posts by email. This is an “as it happens” thing rather than the weekly roundup of the newsletter. Same info, different frequency Kenneth.
On the right is an order form for my book Getting Your Book Out of the Someday Box which I’d love to send you.
Elongating the right half of the left column are links to the latest posts and comments, and to the information and ordering pages for each of my books.
And way way down at the bottom is the very old taglogo (a tagline turned into a logo; I just made that up) for my Little Purple Books publishing which, technically doesn’t exist, and my most favoritest quote about creativity from a prince of an author.
And then there are menus full of stuff. You might find something of interest there as well.
